Calorie Burn Estimates for Combat Sports

This calculator uses MET (Metabolic Equivalent of Task) values to estimate how many calories you burn during combat sports and training activities. MET represents the energy cost of an activity relative to rest. A MET of 1 is baseline (sitting still), while intense boxing sparring can reach a MET of 12 or higher.

Combat sports are among the highest calorie-burning activities. A 75kg person boxing at vigorous intensity burns roughly 960 calories per hour. MMA, Muay Thai, and wrestling are similarly demanding. Even lower-intensity training like BJJ or judo drills burns significantly more than traditional cardio. Use the comparison chart to see how different sports stack up at your weight and intensity level.

These estimates are guidelines based on published MET research. Actual calorie burn varies by individual fitness, body composition, and training style. For personalized nutrition and training plans, the Titans Grip apps include a built-in nutrition engine with macro tracking.
