Attack Chains from Closed Guard
How Submission Chains Work in BJJ
Submission chains are sequences of attacks where each technique sets up the next. When your opponent defends one submission, their defensive reaction creates an opening for a different attack. For example, defending an armbar from guard often exposes the triangle choke. Defending the triangle can open the omoplata.
The most effective grapplers think in chains rather than isolated techniques. Building familiarity with 2-3 chains from each major position gives you a reliable offensive game. Start with the classic armbar-triangle-omoplata chain from guard and the americana-kimura-armbar chain from side control.
